Celebrating the Global Accessibility Awareness Day in Bihac

On May 22, 2025, at the premises of the Opal Hotel Exclusive in Bihac, a panel was held by the Internet Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership with the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of the Municipality of Buzim, which was funded by the Internet Society Foundation.

By organizing the panel, we joined the celebration of Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD – Global Accessibility Awareness Day, https://accessibility.day/events/) and thus contributed to raising awareness about the obstacles that people with disabilities face, as well as the opportunities that digital technologies offer.

The panel presented the results of the project “Internet as a tool for empowering the voices of people with disabilities”, which was funded by the Internet Society Foundation, and the candidates who underwent the training spoke about the importance of Internet access and access to information and communication technologies.

In addition, we had the opportunity to listen to the presentations of our distinguished guests.

  • Nermin Memić, coordinator of the Center for the Development of Inclusive Practices Cazin, dipl. defectologist speech therapist and Nermin Rizvić, special educator and rehabilitator presented a presentation on the application of assistive technology in rehabilitation.
  • Prof. dr. sc. Nermin Toromanović, author of the book Special Pedagogy, gave an overview of the importance of assistive technologies for the independent life of people with disabilities.

The panel was moderated by Prof. Haris Omeragić.
