Launch of the project “Strengthening Digital Security and Online Protection for Persons with Disabilities” funded by the Internet Society Foundation

The Internet Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with the Association of Visually Impaired Citizens of Tuzla and the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Bužim, is launching the project “Strengthening Digital Security and Online Protection for Persons with Disabilities” funded by the Internet Society Foundation.
The project aligns with the Internet Society’s “2030 Strategy” and the goal of “Empowering people to make safe choices to protect themselves online,” focusing on enhancing the digital autonomy and online protection of visually impaired persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the coming period, the Internet Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina will invite associations for the blind and partially sighted people across Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the project’s implementation, so that we may jointly contribute to creating a safer, more accessible, and more inclusive digital environment.
As part of the project, training on digital security and online protection will be organized for candidates from seven associations of blind and partially sighted people throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The trainings will be conducted by experienced lecturers who are blind, so that the content and approach will be adapted to the real needs of the users.
In addition, the project will include the digital security and online protection awareness of blind and partially sighted people survey, through a questionnaire that will be conducted by blind people.
Project results, key research findings, participants’ experiences and recommendations for improving digital security and online protection will be presented at the final panel, which will bring together representatives of associations of visually impaired people, experts and other relevant stakeholders.
With this project, we want to contribute to blind and partially sighted people gaining more knowledge, skills and self-confidence for safe and independent use of the Internet, and thus making the digital environment more accessible, safer and more inclusive for everyone.
