Training of the fourth candidate for independent work on a computer within the project “Enhancing the barrier-free Internet through the blind people empowerment”

Lecturer Hamdo Kentra is giving a laptop to trainee Ernad Koluglija.

“I feel so good, excited because it is an opportunity for me to enter in the normal ’world’. “Normal”, because people accept the stigma that blind people and generally people with disability cannot achieve anything, but they are wrong, as we can do the same thing as completely healthy people. In fact, we only have a motive more to succeed in life, to fight, and to be involved in society. I am very satisfied with everything.”

These are the words of Ernad Kuloglija from Goražde, our fourth trainee within the project “Strengthening the Internet without restrictions for the blind persons”.

Ernad become a completely blind person in a work accident four years ago. Until now, he was unfamiliar with speech programs and other technologies that enable blind people to use computers and access the Internet. Although he often thought about it, until recently he could not believe that he would be able to use the services of modern technology again.

The training for Ernad was held in the premises of the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Goražde from 07/02 – 11/02/2022 During the first part of the training, Ernad showed enough knowledge to continue the planned education process online.

As with other candidates, the training included: learning the basics of computers, learning Windows and voice commands, working with the keyboard, organizing folders and files, shortcuts, writing in Notepad, using Google Chrome, working with YouTube and voice search, creating an e-mail, search and open incoming messages.

The project “Enhancing the barrier-free Internet through the blind people empowerment” is led by the Internet Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is funded by the Internet Society Foundation under the Beyond the Net Large Grant Program.
